Why Falcons D/ST

Toss-Up· low

NO gives up 3.3 sacks and 2.3 turnovers per game, but a DST17 rank and 25.0 projected points allowed keep Atlanta a streaming gamble.

  • NO's offense gives up 3.3 sacks and 2.3 turnovers a game, well above league average.
  • Vegas has NO at 24 points as 2.5-point favorites.
  • Under-started: only 1% of leagues have them in, 31st among defenses, against a No. 17 matchup.

The call

  • The case for starting is the opponent's giveaways. New Orleans has allowed 3.3 sacks and 2.3 turnovers per game, which supports the 2.7 projected sacks and 0.7 interceptions. That is the concrete signal behind the house start-lean.
  • The case against is the scoreboard. NO's implied total is 24.0 and the projection has Atlanta allowing 25.0 points on the road. That caps the points-allowed component and makes this a sack-and-turnover-or-bust play.
  • At DST17 with a 5.4-point projection, the Falcons sit just outside the 12 starting defenses. They are replacement level, not a clear upgrade, and the 1% start rate shows almost nobody is using them.
  • What tips it: start Atlanta over any defense ranked below DST17 or one facing a stingier offense. Keep a top-12 unit in place. The turnover rate comes from only 3 games, so don't overweight it.
