What does a head-to-head record count?
Completed matches, retirements and defaults all count toward the record — the player advanced and the result stood. A walkover does not: no tennis was played. Game averages are stricter still and count completed matches only, because a retirement’s games total is an artefact of when someone stopped.
How far back do these records go?
Head-to-head counts meetings since 2011. A meeting before that is outside the corpus, so a rivalry that started earlier will show a shorter record here than a career total would.
Which meetings appear on a pair’s page?
Every one on record, including qualifying rounds and ITF events, newest first and grouped by tournament. The headline record is the same sample; the tour-level count shown beside it is narrower and is what decides whether the page is listed in search.
