ClayMasters 1000

An ATP Masters 1000 on outdoor clay in Monte Carlo, opening the European clay run before Barcelona and Madrid. The clay is heavy and gritty and plays much slower than these players are used to, so the serve counts for little: holds sit at 72%, aces are scarce and breaks are routine. Totals lean under. Nadal has five titles here, with Tsitsipas and Djokovic on two each.
