The International Eastbourne - Eastbourne

A WTA 500 on grass in Eastbourne, after Berlin and Nottingham with Wimbledon next. The bounce is low and skidding and exchanges are short, so the first strike does the work. Serve dominates, break looks are rare and tiebreaks come cheap, which means a seed is never safe and the totals stay compressed. Flat hitters who slice and chip belong on it. Riske and Kontaveit have each won the title.
