Both of these backs are stuck behind clearly better options, and neither profile changes that this week. Sampson at least touches the passing game, which matters in PPR since his rushing role alone won't get him there. Allgeier gets a few more snaps and plays in a game Arizona is favored to control, but almost none of his work comes through the air, capping him hard in anything but standard scoring. This is a real split by format, not a coin flip that happens to look even: PPR favors the pass-catcher, points-per-reception-less leagues favor the rotational grinder.

What flips it: A late-week role bump for either back — more third-down snaps for Sampson or a goal-line uptick for Allgeier — would separate them; barring that, start neither.
